HydraBallast
HydraBallasts are made of industrial strength .5mm PVC Tarpaulin.
Simply fill with water and place it on the area where you need extra weight.
When weight and stability are needed, HydraBallast water bags easily deliver. Perfect to help secure tents (at wedding, campsites) pool covers, and tarps. HydraBallast also functions as a non-potable water storage container.
Unfilled HydraBallasts weigh 1.5lbs. Filled HydraBallasts weigh 40lbs.
HydraBallasts are designed to be very durable and can be used over and over again.
Yes, HydraBallasts are individual weights that can be placed next to each other as required.
When HydraBallasts are used in extreme cold conditions, it is recommended that they be filled to no more than 2/3 capacity. This will allow for expansion if the water freezes. The cold temperatures will not have any adverse effect on the HydraBallasts material or construction, they can be continued to be used over and over. Tip: The water in the HydraBallasts can be treated with antifreeze to avoid freezing.
Simply remove the filler cap and drain the water from the HydraBallast and store in any convenient location. The HydraBallast will be there waiting for the next time it is needed.
Yes, though HydraBallasts are made out of industrial strength vinyl, they are not immune to punctures. Take care not to drag or place the HydraBallast over sharp or abrasive objects.
No, water that is used in a HydraBallast is not meant to be potable. However, the HydraBallast is an excellent vehicle for storing or transporting non-potable water.
A HydraBallast can hold 5 gallons of water.
In addition to assisting in areas where extra weight and stability are required, HydraBallasts are commonly used as anchors to secure possessions in windy conditions. They are also an excellent solution for anchoring tarps on trucks and to prevent other covers from blowing away in windy conditions. HydraBallasts are also used for storing and transporting non-potable water as well as erosion control.
Yes, HydraBallasts have reinforced material around the handle allowing them to be suspended for long periods of time (months and even years) when full of water with a weight of 40lbs.
HydraBallasts are constructed of reinforced .5mm PVC Tarpaulin material and designed for rugged use and environments. The HydraBallast is not affected by extreme sunlight exposure or freezing temperatures, this product has a life expectancy of many years even in the roughest conditions.
HydraBarrier
To use the HydraBarrier, simply fill with water, according to the guidelines given in the instructions.
HydraBarriers are designed as a water diversion device and as such can divert endless streams of water. HydraBarrier Supreme can divert up to 12 inches of water, HydraBarrier Ultra can divert up to 6 inches of water, and HydraBarrier Standard can divert up to 4 inches of water. HydraBarriers are intended for moderate use and are sufficient for moderate rainfall or other sources of steady water streams that need to be diverted.
Yes, HydraBarriers were designed to work together to construct large barriers. Simply place HydraBarriers end to end to increase the length of the barrier. For optimum performance on long barriers it is recommended to use HydraBarrier Links to securely connect HydraBarriers together.
When HydraBarriers are used in extreme cold conditions, it is recommended that they be filled to no more than 2/3 capacity. This will allow for expansion if the water freezes. The cold temperatures will not have any adverse effect on the HydraBarriers material or construction, and they can be continued to be used over and over.
Tip: The water in the HydraBarrier can be treated with environmentally friendly antifreeze containing propylene glycol as the active ingredient to avoid freezing.
Simply remove the filler cap and drain the water from the HydraBarrier and store in any convenient location. The HydraBarrier will be there waiting for the next time it is needed.
After removing the cap(s) and allowing the HydraBarrier to drain horizontally as much as it can, (once it is light enough), stand it up vertically and roll the barrier downward thereby squishing the remainder of the water out of the fill tube/opening. Then, once empty, unroll and place it down flat on the ground and let it lie in the sunshine to dry for a day or two. Finally roll or fold it up and store it in a garage until needed for next time.
If you are concerned about draining the water off at the same spot that you were trying to protect, use one of our HydraFills and a garden hose to empty. Screw the HydraFill onto the end of the hose that will be inserted into the barrier and run the remainder of the hose away from the trouble spot, maybe onto your lawn or down your driveway towards a sewer. Then remove the cap(s) and insert the HydraFill into the opening on the barrier and push on the barrier to get the water flowing up out of the opening, through the HydraFill and out the hose. Once the barrier is light enough, you can remove the hose & HydraFill and move the HydraBarrier on to your lawn, and follow up with the procedure listed above.
Yes, though HydraBarrier Standard and Ultra are made out of industrial strength vinyl and HydraBarrier Supreme is made out of Tarpaulin, they are not immune to punctures. Take care not to drag or place the HydraBarrier over sharp or abrasive objects.
Yes, every HydraBarrier ships with a patch that can be used to repair punctures.
No, water that is used in a HydraBarrier is not meant to be potable. However, the HydraBarrier is an excellent vehicle for storing or transporting non-potable water.
HydraBarrier Standard and Ultra are made out of industrial strength vinyl and HydraBarrier Supreme is made out of Tarpaulin.
Empty 6ft Standard HydraBarriers are very light, weighing approximately 1 pound. Once filled with water a single HydraBarrier can weigh in excess of 75 lbs. 12ft Standard HydraBarriers weigh approximately 3 lbs when empty and 24 ft Standard HydraBarriers weigh approximately 7lbs when empty.
A full 6ft Standard HydraBarrier can hold 9 to 10 gallons of water. A 6ft HydraBarrier Ultra holds approximately 15 gallons of water. 12ft and 24ft units hold 2 or 4 times that of the 6ft.
In addition to water diversion and flood control, HydraBarriers are commonly used as anchors to secure possessions in windy conditions. They are also an excellent solution for anchoring tarps or other covers from blowing away in windy conditions. HydraBarriers are also used for storing and transporting non-potable water as well as erosion control.
When filled, the HydraBarrier takes on an oval shape, thus it can potentially roll if placed on an incline. It is best to use the HydraBarrier on a flat surface if possible. If used on inclines, the barriers can be used in conjunction with items like sandbags that can be placed in front of the barrier to stop the barrier from rolling.
Please see our warranty page for details.
HydraBarrier Link
HydraBarrier Links are made from industrial strength vinyl.
HydraBarrier Links can only be used to connect HydraBarriers of similar sizes. Our HydraBarrier Supreme Link connects two of our 12″ high HydraBarrier Supremes. The HydraBarrier Ultra Link connects two of our 6″ high HydraBarriers Ultras. Our HydraBarrier Standard Link connects two of our 4″ high HydraBarriers Standards.
HydraBarrier Links easily extend the area to be protected from water damage. You simply wrap the link around two of the same-sized HydraBarriers and secure in place with the Velcro fasteners.
Simply remove the HydraBarrier Link from the HydraBarrier and store in any convenient location. We recommend storing similar sized links with similar sized HydraBarriers.
Yes, though HydraBarrier Links are made out of industrial strength materials they are not immune to punctures. Take care not to drag or place the HydraBarrier Links over sharp or abrasive objects.
HydraPump
The manual contains instructions on how to do this.
If your pump was damaged during shipping Sometimes products arrived damaged which can occur in shipping, please contact us immediately (info@hydrabarrier.com) and we’ll work to resolve your situation.
We design these products and have nerds/engineers that you can contact that can assist in helping you with your setup issues. They’re pumped to hear your questions, trust us. Please reach out to info@hydrabarrier.com.
Sometimes a configuration allows water to flow back towards the put from the outlet hose which causes it to cycle on and off. In this case, a check valve would be needed to stop this from happening.
The HydraPump Smart Flex has a power on self test that automatically triggers the pump to turn on for about 10 seconds even when water isn’t present. This is a good indicator since it means the pump has power and is ready to operate.
There are a couple causes of this. First, the output piping/hose could be kinked or blocked and that would need to be removed. Second, the pump performance is lowered the higher the pump has to pump. Lower the height of the outlet hose or contact us for suggestions from our engineers at info@hydrabarrier.com.
The pump uses the resistance of the water to safely measure if water is present. A perfectly clean water source can have TOO high of a resistance to trigger the pump to start. To see if this is an issue, make sure the pump is plugged in, the sensor probes are in contact with the water, and sprinkle a couple of tablespoons of table salt around the water near the pump. If the pump starts up and begins to pump water then the water is too pure (high resistance) and you should contact our support for next steps or suggestions to work around this issue.
HydraSorber
Place where there is an issue with water and follow the included directions.
HydraSorbers can be stacked to divert large amounts of water.
If your HydraSorber comes in contact with salt water it will not swell properly or at all. The Salt water stops the absorption process for the SAP material in the HydraSorber and the HydraSorber becomes unusable.
Place your vacuum sealed HydraSorbers in a cool dry place for storage.
The HydraSorbers are filled with a Super Absorbent Polymer (SAP) which inflates when wet. There is slightly some extra SAP in the HydraSorber to better insure inflation. As a result, some of the material may escape. The SAP is safe and will break down relatively quickly. Please make sure to wipe away any excess material if there is a concern for slipping or hazardous situations.
HydraTarp
The 14mil Heavy Duty, 16mil Super Heavy Duty and the 18mil Premium Reversible Tarps are made of Polyethylene (PE) material and are 100% waterproof. The same is true of our Camo and Clear Tarps, these are also made of PE material and are 100% waterproof. Our Canvas Tarps are made of a woven cotton material and while highly water resistant they are not completely waterproof.
No, our tarps do not always measure to the exact stated size, if this is a requirement we would suggest you contact a custom tarp vendor. Our Tarps will measure within 5% of the stated size.
A Full size tarp is cut such that after folding over all edges and securing the corners, the finished product should measure the full stated size as advertised.
A Cut size tarp is cut to the stated size, the material is then folded over to seal the edges and corners resulting in a final product that is 6” – 9” shorter on both sides.
Note: All HydraTarps are Full Size Tarps within 5%.
Yes, our Premium 18 mil Tarps have D-Rings on all corners and along all sides of the tarp to provide additional strength for the really tough jobs.
